My biggest prayer is that we are constantly being fully dependent on The Lord and being willing to go where He leads and listen when He speaks and be a bold light for His Kingdom, just as we see in the book of Acts when the disciples are so fully reliant on The Holy Spirit to spread the love of Christ and expand The Church. That we would show everyone around us the love of Christ through The Holy Spirit and know that everything we do is Him in us and nothing of ourselves, this isn't about us, but about our sweet Savior and serving His people. We will only be there a short time and our love will only be evident to these people in those short moments we spend with them, but The Lord's love is eternal and so powerful and I want the people we interact with to experience that love that will never leave them or forsake them. I know The Lord does more than we can ask or imagine, and I am praying just that. That He will do big things and move in unimaginable ways.

Lusaka and Family Legacy

After arriving in Lusaka on Monday, we have had the privilege to work with Dr. Brad Guffey at Family Legacy. Splitting our team into two groups, we have been working at the Tree of Life clinic and the clinic serving Camp Life. From diagnostic differentials, venipuncture, ART, assessments, and collecting health histories, the students have gained a wealth of clinical experience. Many of our peers have expressed this afternoon as being one of their favorite days after listening to Dr. Guffey’s insight on his AIDS research and the country in which he serves. We expect a busy day at the clinics tomorrow as Camp Life comes to a close for this week. We appreciate your thoughts & prayers for these sweet children.

One week to departure...

After months of preparation, we are starting to pack our bags for our July 7th departure!  We will share our experiences here on this blog about every 48 hours! Our team is comprised of 12 undergraduate Baylor Nursing students and two faculty / staff members. We are privileged to be led by Dr. Lori Spies, Associate Professor of Nursing, Missions Coordinator, and current Global Fulbright Scholar! Dr. Spies is conducting a multi-country Fulbright in Zambia, India, and Vietnam. In fact, she will remain behind the team in Zambia to work on her project.  Her co-leader for the team is Monica Mullins, Director of Student Services, at LHSON.  Monica supports both Pre-Nursing students in Waco and graduate and undergraduate Nursing students in Dallas.  Both Lori and Monica have extensive experience leading student mission teams and are excited to work with this group of women.  In addition to her Fulbright work, Dr. Spies and Monica will be conducting a student leadersh...
